On the Importance of Backing up
I was performing a clean install of OS X last night on an external hard drive that I was going to use as my primary harddrive at work, and made a really stupid mistake. Somehow I chose to install it on the internal macbook hard drive rather than the external, and got a nice new clean install where I wanted none. All I can say is I haven’t gotten much sleep this week and it was a careless mistake.
Anyway, I have everything from before about a month ago backed up and probably half of everything since then backed up, unfortunately I’ve lost originals to many images, though I have high res copies of all the best ones, as well as a number of other documents of various replaceability.
I’m extremely glad I do regular backups, but am going to set up Time Machine on that Mac immediately to prevent anything of this magnitude happening again. If you don’t back up regularly, start now!
